A pleasant aroma of Wines, Tequila and Cheeses hugged the far corner, while mingling individuals immersed in conversation foregrounded the beautiful Long Beach waterfront view. The evening transitioned into the Lagunita banquet room, where the Hotel Maya staff arranged over thirty-five picture-perfect tables exquisitely. Along with a regal ambience from the chandeliers, drapery, and warming lights of red, the red roses centerpieces gave the tables the perfect finish. Maximo Marcuso El Tenor de las Américas’s serenaded the honorees. The audience loved his performance.
President, Sandy Cajas opened the night welcoming the guests. She gave special thanks to the RHI and RHCC sponsors and mentioned that this event could not take place without their support. She continued welcoming the dignitaries and thanking Michael Solt, Dean of Business at CSULB, for his continued support. The board of directors, sponsors, members, family and friends were direct contributors of the event and an appreciation was present.
Many students and recent graduates from the California State University System were also a major part of the development of the gala and part of the Regional Youth Council. Special thanks to Nallely E. Garcia, Lhea Villarreal, Sonia Aguirre, Adolfo Ricado, Katherine Gutierrez, Kali Muralidharan, John Ultreras, Nathan Ho, Oscar Santana and Armando Roy Morales VanMeter.
Mistress of Ceremonies Lhea Villareal gave an eloquent speech to congratulate the recipients of this year’s “Mujeres Del Año” awards. They come from a variety of professional fields and disciplines, and were awarded for their impact, influence, and inspiration.
The RHI presented the award “Excellence Corporate Leadership” to Burns & McDonnell Corporation, Joel Farrier accepted the award.
The evening came to a close with the installation of the 2017 RHCC and RHI Board of Directors, Advisors, Ambassadors and Leadership Council.
