Joel Farrier has joined Burns & McDonnell, where he will focus on broadening relationships with clients in the infrastructure sectors served by Burns & McDonnell. Farrier will be based in Southern California, focusing his efforts on developing relationships with clients throughout the Western United States. He will directly manage the Environmental Group in California and brings a wealth of experience and key account management expertise to all of Burns & McDonnell practices.
Farrier has spent much of his 27-year career working in a variety of management roles and has success building teams from multiple engineering, scientific and technical disciplines to address complex infrastructure, development and construction issues. He has particular experience on a number of studies, design and design-build projects, including several in Los Angeles and Orange counties in Southern California.
“We are excited to have Joel join our team,” says Renita Mollman, vice president and general manager of Burns & McDonnell’s California region. “Though he has experience helping clients in Southern California solve tough environmental challenges, his expertise goes far beyond that sector. He has had great success in developing sales-oriented teams that have addressed a wide range of engineering and technical challenges facing manufacturing facilities, transportation agencies, utilities and other power providers and water districts and utilities.”
“Joel brings a number of great qualities to Burns & McDonnell and he will fulfill a unique and very important role in strategic account development,” says Steve Nalefski, vice president of the Environmental Group at Burns & McDonnell. “He is an energetic and dynamic leader who is known for critical thinking, driving safety culture, continuous improvement, financial controls and organizational excellence. More and more clients demand holistic problem solving and Joel is the right person to help us meet those demands.”
Farrier has an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (Lausanne, Switzerland) as well as a master’s degree in engineering and a bachelor’s degree in zoology-genetics from the University of California, Berkeley.
